Bon Stelle (Translation: “Good Star”)

Theatre herstory would not be the same without pioneer Jesse Bonstelle— Broadway’s forgotten first female director. In 1912, she made her mark by gaining the rights to adapt Mary Alcott’s novel Little Women for theatre audiences. It was a Broadway hit that cemented her career. This play is a biographical piece that highlights her legacy. It will be staged annually at The Bonstelle Theatre in Detroit— which remains operational (as a part of Marriot’s AC Hotel Detroit).
